Thoughts on the 2007 State of the Union address

Jon Stewart did a bit on Bush's opposite methodology on The Daily Show this week. Basically, he joked that Bush's SOTU address highlighted items that were usually opposite of his previous policies.

However, it is all smoke and mirrors. They say the devil is in the details. And, when one examines the details behind some of Bush's applause points, one will see that it usually has an opposite result of what one expected.

One example: Cut fuel use by 20% in 10 years. But, it is not 20% of what we currently use. It is 20% of the projected (higher) use for 2017.

Nice to see there is a domestic agenda even mentioned. But, how can he not include anything about rebuilding the gulf coast? I guess if he ignored it then, he can more easily ignore it now.
