Alternative Energy

Here is the news on my way home from work last night:

1) Follow-up stories on the mining accident in West Virginia that killed 12 miners and seriously injured another.

2) An energy analyst stating that petroleum resources would hit their peak in 2008 (give or take 2 years--that's this year on the take side). Not that we would run out in 2008 but that we were on the downhill side from there.

All of this makes me wonder why the government cannot get it's collective head out of its ass and do something about alternative forms of energy. This is government that gives less of a tax credit for buying a hybrid than buying some huge SUV!

And business is no better. Ford's initial entry into the hybrid market is a mini-SUV. Hello? This thing, while getting better mileage than the normal version of the Escape, gets the same gas mileage as my normal Ford car. I love Ford, but where is the innovation.

If I had capital or seed money, I would be investing in renewable energy resources and devices.

fuck Abercrombie. . . isn't it interesting that the model Ford is called "Escape". The joke about alienation from all of the necessities of basic living is ...

BTW, "millions more people are projected to be flooded every year due to sea-level rise by the 2080s."
I think it may be a bit too late to be concerned. We're pretty screwed. Though it may be fun to remember Bush as the Nero of the U.S. :-)
